I don't mean to pick a fight
It probably ain't my place
'Cause you ain't gonna like
What I've got to say
I don't mean to wreck your night
Just tryin' to do a favor
Yeah, you might trust him now
But you might thank me later

'Cause when there's smoke, there's always a fire
And he's got the lighter

This ain't me bein' mean, girl
I just hate to see a good heart hangin' on a string, girl
It sure looks a lot like love, but what you don't see, girl
Is all those cards slid so far up his sleeve, girl
When he says you're the only one, take it from me
Yeah, it's just another thing that he doesn't mean, girl
Oh, that he doesn't mean, girl

He's told me all about you
I'm sure he skipped some things
No, he's really changing
Oh, yeah, that's what he told me
Think what you wanna think

This ain't me bein' mean, girl
I just hate to see a good heart hangin' on a string, girl
It sure looks a lot like love, but what you don't see, girl
Is all those cards slid so far up his sleeve, girl
When he says you're the only one, take it from me
Yeah, it's just another thing that he doesn't mean, girl
Oh, that he doesn't mean, girl, no

He didn't mean to drink too much again
And keep me up 'til 3 AM
And when he wakes up to
Somebody that ain't you
He didn't mean to

This ain't me bein' mean, girl
I just hate to see someone get hurt like me, girl
It sure looks a lot like love, but what you don't see, girl
Is all those cards slid so far up his sleeve, girl
When he says you're the only one, take it from me
Yeah, it's just another thing that he doesn't mean, girl
Mm, that he doesn't mean, girl
