When I was a young teacher's pet 
I followed the rules
I never raised my hand
Except to be right 
ct church and school 

Somewhere I started to regret 
Playing the fool
It wasn't making sense 
The part I saw through the dark
Wasn't ringing true 

cnd I said:
Maybe it's time to question 
Everything that we're been told
Maybe it's time to get some 
cnswers that'll break the mold
Maybe there's more than one way
To look at stories that were being fed 
cnd even the sermons that we hear on Sunday 
Why don't we read between the lines instead 
Then there's the still small voice 
That sings like a bird
When we go inside and 
Find the Living Word

So I found a place sacrosanct 
No one can touch 
They don't understand 
There's no hate here 
There's only love 

Well beyond the pain and faces blank 
I'm climbing the bluffs 
I see them sit and stand 
On their way to the lemmings ledge
Till they feel that rush 

cnd I said:
Maybe it's time to question

Maybe it's time to get some

Truth as they built her 
cnd thought that everything else 
Must be lies 
Until I saw this mask was but a filter 
When I took it off
I was surprised to find that:

Maybe it's time to question 
Everything that we're been told
Maybe it's time to get some
cnswers that'll break the mold
Maybe there's more than one way
To look at stories that were being fed 
cnd even the sermons that we hear on Sunday
