And your wide broad nose, inhaling the elements of the cosmos
Forgive me for not looking into your beautiful brown eyes
And staring into your beautiful black soul
Forgive me for turning my eye every time you tried to say "hi"
Forgive me for seeing the black man as less than
While seeing everyone else as greater than
Forgive me for every word I said to put you down 
Instead of honoring what should of been your crown
Forgive me for letting them hurt you while I hurt you more
Treating you like nothing more than what they said you were
Forgive me, I did not realize that you were the first man
And could be my first man and should always be my first man
Forgive me for not honoring the very essence of you
