T. Rex

T. Rex were a British rock band, formed in 1967 by singer/songwriter and guitarist Marc Bolan. The band formed as Tyrannosaurus Rex, releasing four underground folk albums under the name. Tony Visconti (their producer for several albums) claimed in a documentary on the band that he had taken to using the abbreviated term "T. Rex" as a shorthand, something that initially irritated Bolan, who gradually came around to the idea and officially shortened the band's name to "T. Rex" at roughly the same time they started having big hits (shortly after going electric). more »

For my brothers that I lost, I'ma put my light in the sky
I promise not to cry, I'ma vote for you
I'ma vote for you
For my brothers that I lost, be a god, let me be strong

I'ma vote for you
Oh, I'ma vote for you
I came from the sticks, we called it the crick
Surrounded by rednecks, I still wanted to spit

Like Juelz and Dipset, still listen to Big
D-Block with Kiss, Pac and Kendrick, Nas and Miss
Elliot, lose control, dangerous but elegant
I find success, girls DM next

This is Tre, don't forget the X
An MC you don't see, I'm wearing the specs
You can expect my rhyme schemes to collect
Instant respect, you can't digest

You wanna heck, leave a curse, I hex
My verses is a flex, I dissect
The critics that left, bring em back, resurrect
The first two projects, three for three, I am trifect

No box, unchecked, love yourself best when you don't second guess
Thoughts of an intellect, I fail every class except this subject
I feel erect, coming for the beat, you hardly off your feet
Computer screens when you speak, no need to tell you to seat

Water your own seed, so growth is guaranteed
I'm a different person, I see life in different diversions
Different growth from different emergings
Never splurging, in peace I keep searching

I'm forever working, on myself
So if I need the help, I'm hoping you will
Can't you tell I'm a wishing well
But my work matches the dream of rapping that I'm attacking

The ethic ain't lacking, my feet ain't dragging
I ain't bragging, but every verse I'm snapping
Created my baby, I'm tapping
I laid the egg, I'm hatching, got your head scratching

You acting with a reaction that got me laughing
Like I ain't adding, fifty tracks and thirty more stashing
In six months, I'm cashing
I ain't chasing the clout, I'm chasing clouds

The dark one is out, the new one is proud
Don't see a crowd, but in myself they're loud
This mic makes me fly, so come see me live
Never see me lie, only see me sky

Royce, you my guy, I change my voice low to high
So many flows I ride, give you six rappers in one show supplied
There is no deny, my skills imply
This game I should reside, but that's for you to decide

I can only guide, fans and haters divide
My pride, learning to coincide, to keep my dream alive
Gotta let the hate slide, it deserves no reply
But I'm tied to the knot, in my stomach it rots

So it still gets a response, is that what you want
No love, just a temper, from Indy to Denver
We endeavor this world together
So I'm Peyton a Manning, we remember

Am I serving you or me? I don't know honestly
Patiently waiting for opportunity to seizure
So I can put proof to doubt and truth to believers
Real love you never leave her, depressed I heaved her

Hacking up pain relievers, laying on the floor like a creature
I needed a preacher, not a reaper
I needed a mic and a speaker, needed a lead, now I leader
You a receiver, story of a dreamer

From death eager, to happiness leisure
I'm poetic in motion, from decoding life's emotions
I'm flowing oceans and trees, feels like a breeze
Now that I put death at ease, smile from happily

Not half of me, came from a fantasy
Now I'm flattered in vanity, hang it up like tapestry
Floating in my canopy, standing tough that's the man in me
Know my death would be a tragedy, I changed rapidly

The power of your majesty, no school in my academy
My academics you can gladly see, with no examinee
I saved insanity, filled my cavities
Philanthropy, not financially

So if you keep searching for purses, materials to purchase
To retire a better person, you'll forever be working
I don't want that version, Ross said it best
You measure success by how many people you bless

When you left, that's why I need these words said
My music can live on when I'm dead
That's why I call on my friends
Every song I send, ain't for me to fend

My ego, it's to show you love every time I reload
Think of you every time I speak though
Thoughts by the kilo, I had to listen to see those
Who matter the most, feel high to feel low

When I had no clothes, so you gave me yours
Wasn't a chore, you gave me hoards
A room and board, food that I couldn't afford
I'm forever grateful and more, no longer morn I soar

You gave me a floor when I was poor
So let me make it and show you the shore
Nothing short of oceans of course
I'm open the doors, cause you pushed me to force

Love is a sport, the ball's in my court
I won't let you down anymore
