Ghazal

The ghazal (Arabic: غَزَل‎, Bengali: গজল, Hindi-Urdu: ग़ज़ल/غزَل, Persian: غزل‎, Azerbaijani: qəzəl, Turkish: gazel, Uzbek: gʻazal, Gujarati: ગઝલ) is a form of amatory poem or ode, originating in Arabic poetry. A ghazal may be understood as a poetic expression of both the pain of loss or separation and the beauty of love in spite of that pain. The ghazal form is ancient, tracing its origins to 7th-century Arabic poetry. The ghazal spread into South Asia in the 12th century due to the influence of Sufi mystics and the courts of the new Islamic Sultanate, and is now most prominently a form of poetry of many languages of the Indian subcontinent and Turkey.A ghazal commonly consists of five to fifteen couplets, which are independent, but are linked – abstractly, i… more »

Sadness takes over my entire body, I wipe the wets from my sunken skin
Swept away by clouds of grey imagery, my heart paints the blues with indelible ink

And I caress, the mark on my chest, where I should find a heart, not emptiness
I confess to the darkness, that I harbour a sunless sky that no one will witness

Goodbye, blue sky, you were all I knew once upon a time
But I, am no longer a child I must see the world without a disguise
So now I'm left with my lonesome eyes, to put back together my broken blue skies

Glitter beads under my eyes and lashes, I feel the dreary run in circles around my body
Forest fires burn to specks and ashes, as I watch my insides yearn for solace from the deadly

And I harness, all the love that I have uonto my ribs, to feed my person filled with loneliness
But I go blind to all that can mend my empty eyes, so I soak in the somber from morning to night

Goodbye, blue sky, you were all I knew once upon a time
But I, am no longer a child, I must see the world without a disguise
So now I'm left with my lonesome eyes, to put back together my broken blue skies

Goodbye, blue sky, tonight I crave, a dark dark night
Away from noise and calamity, sometimes there's company in the lonely
Goodbye, summer nights, my heart encumbered with a sadness that becomes mine
I shouldn't crave a day with no light, but it's there where mine can rest awhile
It's there that calls my name when I've been undated
A calm serenity without being sedated

Goodbye, blue sky, we must part ways and be alright
Goodbye, summer nights, I'll weep in the waves of the tears I cry

Goodbye, blue sky, you were all I knew once upon a time
But I, am no longer a child, I must see the world without a disguise
So now I'm left with my lonesome eyes, to put back together my broken blue skies

Goodbye, blue sky
You were all I knew once upon, a time
