Back to where my roots remain, in the old country
Down where, seagulls cry, be it foul or fair
And wild winds blow you dry, On a road, to nowhere

I will go there, where earth sea and sky collide
Down in the west country, up on the Northern side
Watch the fishing boats returning, in the setting sun
That sinks into the ocean, when the day, when the day is done

I  dream a time, I might find, my childhood sweetheart
Maybe she waits patiently, for me, all these years apart
But she fades from mind, as I awake from a dream so sound
Like a ship fast in the shallows, my dream, just ran aground

So it's anchor's away, set sail today, I can weather any storm
I can sail the eye of a needle so, no rock will see me torn
Gonna chart my course, set the compass, to carry me home
I left in 1963, on a lifetime journey

Walk again old muddy lane, to the wild, gorse and heather
Green cliff and the cave below, the one we found together
Sit once more on that rocky floor, remember days long gone
When time didn't fly and in my mother's eye, I was always, going to be someone

So Westward Ho! Is the way I go, high on a vista grand
From up on the tors my mind explores, waves breaking over the sand
Stop and stare, twelve houses there, just a distant memory
My circles drawn where I was born, I'm back home, by the sea, by the sea
