In the land whose name claims two continents It is criminal to cocoon, only natural to rot As you distract your followers with the shiny toy of murder While you vacuum the gray air out of their lungs You withhold our cure, tell them it's experimental abuse And you force the sharp worms out of our skin As our bodies balloon from the inside Is it unfair that I survived While my siblings continue to die? But the cornerstone of your (Our) land is death The ground begins to boil As you (We) spray murder into the water and pour it into the sky We suck the blood out of the bones from abroad So our sweat can feed the supersaturated sponge The oceans wave by wave draining the sand dry Your (Our) guardians of peace serve execution on the streets Our children murder each other with our (Your) toys And we cheer on the flashing lights of imaginary homicide As our (Your) little men in our (Their) rooms of silver screens rain the real thing far away We pay you to take our relatives into the factories of flesh Bred to die, repurchased on a plate Hooked on delicious disease's taste We join the conveyer belt of scheduled hospice walk-ins For the antidote is too expensive And we can only afford the toxin When will your screaming cease? You have far too much work to do What are friends dying When that is the way of the world? These little glowing rectangles Are nothing but harbingers of pain Shrieking every horror From every single place Every single second of every single day Just plug your eyes and close your ears: Have you changed a single thing all these years? Stop struggling, stop resisting, and definitely stop persisting: It'll be easier in the little time you have left for existing Swallow your deep takes And take a deep breath What does knowing the answer matter When you can do nothing about it? But it's so easy for you to lie Basking, motionless When you're floating on the lazy river Of the blood of the innocents Just another slaver But too weak to grip the whip yourself Too weak to stare into the eyes Of the families they're slaughtering for your consumption The luxury of looking away Of having others exploit for you So you can pretend you're good That you're not responsible That you're not complicit That you're not guilty Just because there are taller thrones Doesn't mean you aren't on one yourself But you're right The ground is boiling The thrones are sinking It's the world's inevitability to burn We brought it on ourselves Born to serve Serving to eat Eating to die The new apex species is here And we've birthed it You've woken up into the nightmare And there is no going back to sleep You can close your eyes or cry But you cannot stop our fall Into the sponge of endless growth in the all-so-finite sky When I was driving home today The freeways were empty Outside my window The hills were rolling by So close but Untouchable My car doors were this impenetrable boundary: I saw these abstract landscapes every day Yet they would forever be a stranger Then Somehow I stopped I pulled over I got out of my car And I went to those hills I embraced them The The wind was so soft and cool The grass Tickled The sun was so warm on my face And I don't know what any of it means But In that moment I was overwhelmed With the joy That I was here And that I was alive
