In the country of Wisconsin under the sky
Through the bushes and logs you'll have to look far and wide
You'll come across a pond an ecosystem that thrives
And somewhere round that pond you'll find a dragonfly
He's placed there among the reeds and lily pads
Glowing all colors of blue green and red
He waits there next to the water's edge
Not listening to others no he knows what's best
And in a flash he takes off above the reeds
Each of his wings moving independently
Across the land he flies with incredible speed
His eyes surveying the surroundings 360 degrees
Fly dragonfly till your heart's content
Don't let others stop you do what your soul is meant
It's your time dragonfly from now till the sun sets
There's no wave that can rock you no your sail is set

When the owls have woken up under streaming beams of white

He's resting for the night under a cattail
For he has been in flight and hunting all day
The sound of the crickets ring out around the pond
The dragonfly listens to their earthly song
It's amazing to think of how far he has come
From when he emerged from the pond when he was young
From all those days as a nymph that he swum
To flying under golden rays colorful as the sun
You survived dragonfly every challenge you faced
You made it through them all even when you couldn't find your place
Take pride dragonfly know that your soul is safe
Through all the ups and falls there is no dream that you can't chase
