Sometimes
my heart is so heavy I can barely carry it. Pain so deep I can hardly bury it. Hands dirty, trying not to be complacent. And I'm just suffering adjacent.

I look at the world and think it doesn't have to be this way, a few who benefit the rest of us are made to pay but humanity wasn't made this way. I know that there's a better way. Lord show us the glory to write a different story. They hoard the power so they have the strength to keep us at harm's length.

Shaking hands behind closed doors making deals with a clap on the back but the track record shows their lack of empathy for the rest of humanity. And that pains me.
Angry, let the record show we can be buried by the horrors of those deeds but I know we can grow, because we are seeds.

Distracted from the action, encouraged to be unhealthy so the wealthy can flourish while the rest of the world burns? No. It's our turn.
If we address the fallacy of harmfulness through policy
we could get compliance 'cause we can't rely on them to see the needs of humanity as worthy
to supersede the need to grow independently financially wealthy.

But if the soil was healthy and we let our hands get filthy with the riches of the earth shared more evenly between us - I know that you can see us! We are your community, not a commodity. Support all our dignity, reclaim our humanity, remember: we're family.

With God as my witness we can prevail with good dirt under our nails tending to the systems that need mending. Then we would have a world where you don't erase us but actually embrace us. It is time to face us. It is time to face up before our times up, we have our hands up and we won't give up until you show up and we all grow up.

I have faith you won't leave us at harm's length.
