Reunion

"Life Is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)" is a 1974 song by an ad hoc group of studio musicians called Reunion, with Joey Levine (bubblegum music pioneer with "Chewy Chewy" and "Yummy Yummy Yummy" to his credit) as the lead singer. The song was written by Paul DiFranco (music) and Norman Dolph (lyrics). The lyrics are a fast patter of 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s disc jockeys, musicians, songwriters, record labels, song titles and lyrics, broken only by the chorus. more »

Watch: New Singing Lesson Videos Can Make Anyone A Great Singer

These are ties that bind
And hope to feed our restoration
Open up the wounds and let them
Heal by conversation
The value of our minds
Work better in combination
Remove the barriers that
Serve to halt our reclamation
Retake our self-indulgent lives
We've built up these divisions
That are bound to cause our expiration
See how we make it through the night
The lack of separation
Keeps us stronger with no walls
And then we achieve
What we're supposed to be
Build a new identity
Attain a serenity
That can't be felt alone
Believe
Again in humanity
Trust and security
Bonds that can't unweave
Are set in stone
We can be better together than we are apart
Lay the past to waste, consider a fresh start
These are the ties that bind
And hope to feed our restoration
