the tares

The Parable of the Weeds or Tares (KJV: tares, WNT: darnel, DRB: cockle) is a parable of Jesus which appears in Matthew 13:24–43. The parable relates how servants eager to pull up weeds were warned that in so doing they would root out the wheat as well and were told to let both grow together until the harvest. Later in Matthew, the weeds are identified with "the children of the evil one", the wheat with "the children of the Kingdom", and the harvest with "the end of the age". A shorter, compressed version of the parable is found without any interpretation in the apocryphal Gospel of Thomas. more »

Dogs that tear after trains seem to understand
They howl of pain at your careless hand
Sans a golden band
Swallowed the road like it came from a bottle
The brown bags murdering tomorrow
But further from the sorrow

We burn like Covairs in the night
On a cold and dusty flight
Weaving and dodging the days
That are horrors in disguise

Praying for nothing like never
Oh, the fact that you can't decide
Well, some of us burned like Corvairs in the night
Some of us burn like Corvaris in the night

Lovers in planes seem to pass me by
Stop looking up and praying at night
Don't have to tell you why
Patience aside, is it really a sin?
Why should you stop
When you know you're never getting there?
The shoulder is for settling

We burn like Corvairs in the night
On a cold and dusty flight
Weaving and dodging the days
That are horrors in disguise
Praying for nothing like never
Or the fact that you can't decide
Well, some of us burn like Corvairs in the night
Some of us burn like cold Corvairs in the night

Four years of a dream
That never really mattered
Littered the nights with a fear
That's only sadder
Staring at the ladder

Dogs that tear after trains seem to pass me by
Stop looking up and praying at night
Don't have to tell you why

We burn like Corvairs in the night
On a cold and dusty flight
Weaving and dodging the days
That are horrors in disguise
Praying for nothing like never
Or the fact that you can't decide
But some of us burn like Corvairs in the night
Some of us burn like cold Corvairs in the night
Like Corvairs in the night

Like Corvaris in the (Corvairs in the night)
Like Corvaris in the (Corvairs in the night)
Like Corvaris in the (Corvairs in the night)
