My name is Chloe Cole And I am a detransitioner Another way to put that would be I used to believe that I was born in the wrong body And the adults in my life whom I trusted affirmed my belief And this caused me life-long, irreversible harm I speak to you today as a victim Of one of the biggest medical scandals In the history of the United States of America That ain't a trans kid That's a little girl in need of some love That's a little girl in need of a mom Who gonna tell her she don't need to look like Kim K or Nicki Minaj Cos what you see on the gram, baby it's just a facade Trust me I know sometimes it gets dark But you don't need a binder to go and cover ya heart I'm right here, baby girl Momma's ready to love you just as you are At the age of 12, I began to experience What my medical team would later diagnose as gender dysphoria I was very uncomfortable with the changes that were happening to my body And when I told my parents that I felt like a boy In retrospect, all I meant was that I hated puberty That ain't a trans kid That's a little girl in need of some love That a little girl in need of a dad Who gonna tell her that she worthy of his love and attention As beautiful woman Nah she don't need to be a man for that So just take Daddy's hand and trust me I know sometimes it gets dark But you dont need a binder to go and cover ya heart I'm right here, baby girl Daddy's ready to love you just as you are I came out as transgender In a letter I sentt on the dining room table My parents were immediately concerned The gender specialist I was taken to Told my parents that I needed to be put on pubrerty blocking drugs right away They asked my parents a simple question Would you rather have a dead daughter Or a living transgender son? That ain't a trans kid That's a little girl in need of some love That's a little girl in need of a friend Who gonna tell her she don't need to go and jump on a trend Go and jump on the test Scalpels get rid of her breasts, wait What you see in the mirror Baby that is enough Yeah you worthy of love Deaf ears, I know you can't hear it Dysphoric, know you don't feel it But I've been there before What you think these two scars were for? Flat chest, double mastectomy Guess pride got the best of me So trust me I know sometimes it gets dark But you don't need a binder to go and cover ya heart I'm right here, when you ready I'll be ready to love you just as you are I didn't need to be lied to I needed compassion Just as you are You're enough
