Tommy Dorsey

Thomas Francis "Tommy" Dorsey, Jr. (November 19, 1905 - November 26, 1956) was an American jazz trombonist, trumpeter, composer, and bandleader of the Big Band era. He was known as "The Sentimental Gentleman of Swing", due to his smooth-toned trombone playing. Although he was not known for being a notable soloist, his technicality with the trombone gave him renown amongst other musicians. He was vastly admired by other musicians, however, for his technical skill on his instrument. He was the younger brother of bandleader Jimmy Dorsey. After Dorsey broke with his brother in the mid-1930s, he led an extremely popular and highly successful band from the late 1930s into the 1950s. more »

(Verse 1)
I'm in love with a blue blaze
She's the prettiest thing I've ever seen
She's got eyes like the stars at night
And a smile that could light up the sky

(Chorus)
Blue blazes, blue blazes
She's driving me crazy
I can't think of anything else
But her sweet blue eyes

(Verse 2)
I know I'm no match for her
She's out of my league
But I can't help myself
I'm crazy about her

(Chorus)
Blue blazes, blue blazes
She's driving me crazy
I can't think of anything else
But her sweet blue eyes

(Bridge)
I know I'm going to get burned
But I don't care
I'm willing to take the chance
For a chance to be with her

(Chorus)
Blue blazes, blue blazes
She's driving me crazy
I can't think of anything else
But her sweet blue eyes
