When I was a little boy so many years ago
I would run outside to play for hours in the snow
Praying that I'd wake to see all the presents 'neath the lighted tree
That's what Christmas meant to me
Later as a younger man I set out on my own
But for every holiday I'd always find my way back home
Singing joyful melodies with my family round the lighted tree
That's what Christmas meant to me
As the years went by I felt my share of joy & pain
If it's taught me anything I really can't complain
And staring at the lighted tree think of resolutions that would be
That's what Christmas meant to me
I was blind but now I see
That the meaning of the lighted tree
Is what He did for all humanity
