Jumping through hoops,
Roller coaster loops,
Tryin’ to get to where I need to be
Gotta reverse
The generational curse
That determines my chemistry
All the self-control
To heal my soul
I wanna learn how to be sane
But if toxic shame
And emotional pain
Remains the name of the game
I want off this train

I’m only the sum
Of what all of the complex
Trauma done did to me
Still I’m carrying guilt
For what society built
In my habitual propensities
You can treat all the symptoms
But the deeper condition’s
Too much bigger than me to repair
And all I needed from you
Was a little attunement
To the way the milieu
Turns our dreams
Into nightmares

Tryin’ to cope
With the kaleidoscope
Of muscle memories under my skin
My flesh and my mind
Have to go through the meat grinder
Of this world and yet we call it a sin

Eaten alive
By the contrition inside
That all the preachin’ tries to
Keep in my nerves
Every moment I brace
For one more slap to the face
Of all my weaknesses
Around every curve

Well I skinned my knee,
The devil’s pickin’ on me,
And I’m so afraid of the dark
I’ve suffered deprivation
Of some validation
And comfort for the ache in my heart
All I wanted to do
Was share affection with you
But now my bones are always in a tizzy
Cause all you’re interested in
Is putting me through this endless
Repression and correction to fix me

We gotta override
All my selfish pride
So my condition doesn’t keep getting worse
But is daily conviction
And erratic conniptions
The way to make the damage reverse?
I’ve made mistakes
And I wanna forsake
The ways that lead to my demise
But what I really need’s
Another heart to bleed
With me instead of critiquing my deeds
With overbearing advice

Tryin’ to cope
With the kaleidoscope
Of muscle memories under my skin
My flesh and my mind
Have to go through the meat grinder
Of this world and yet we call it a sin

Well I skinned my knee,
The devil’s pickin’ on me,
And I’m so afraid of the dark
I’ve suffered deprivation
Of some validation
And comfort for the ache in my heart
All I wanted to do
Was share affection with you
But now my bones are always in a tizzy
Is there really a chance
That if I do the rain dance
You can reset the dry bones to fix me?
