A cozy home for it to rest

A sanctuary, a nestling safe place
But as the days passed by
The bird grew restless, its wings it would try
To spread and flutter, to feel the wind
To know what lay beyond its kin
The bird gazed at the vast blue sky
It longed to fly, to soar so high
To see the world beyond the tree
To be wild, to be free
One last night at home
All his bags are packed
Feels these butterflies
He's an insomniac
Misses these hometown streets
Now he starts from scratch
If he falls asleep
There's no turning back
His mind reflects on the time
He leaves the one place
That's been home for life
And he feels these fears
Cuz over the years
Never had to lead
Now he's at the wheel

Heart pumps inside of his chest
Excitement and fear

The bird said goodbye to its nest
To its siblings and the warmth of its rest
It spread its wings and took to the air
With the wind in its feathers, it didn't have a care
It soared above the treetops, and felt the sun on its wings
It flew over rivers and mountains, And heard the songs of many things
The bird discovered new landscapes
And met birds of different shapes and shades
It learned to navigate the skies
And found a new home in its newfound ways
Now he's here at last
Takes in the campus vibes
Sunshine and vast green lawns
Tunes bumpin frisbees fly
New faces all around
The time just runs right by
Now he's all moved in
Just one thing on his mind
It's time to say his goodbyes
He hugs mom and dad
With tears in his eyes
And now
His mom weeps and he is surprised
He sees his dad cry
It's for the first time
And now
They're off he watches them go
And he's never felt
So out of control
So where should he go?
He feels so alone
Can this become home?
Nobody knows
His mind reflects on the time
He's left the one place
That's been home for life
And he feels these fears
Cuz over the years
Never had to lead
Now he's at the wheel
