She was used to enduring the harsh life of the farm But when the endless days and toil had sapped all its charm The emerald sea beckoned to this prisoner of the land She left her homestead and pulled her head from the sand She forged a new identity in a quaint seaside bar And every night she watched the harbor lit by the stars Anchored there, bold and proud and weaving with the waves Was the small merchant vessel on which she'd stow away The ship left port on a cool and windy night Her heart skipped a beat as she hid well out of sight But two days on, they'd not made land and she was hungry and alone She had no other choice but to make her presence known She kept her head high against the jeers of the crew And made for the captain as he gazed upon the blue At first he looked bemused she'd made it this many leagues But then there was a spark, the glow of intrigue "To heel men, can you not see this act of the divine? A devious deception for those wise to our crimes Why risk pursuit and a frenzied brawl When we can lure them with a siren's call?" Och aye – och aye! Look to the sky Trouble does a-brew They'll never know what hit them When you're part of our crew Och aye – och aye! Look to the sky A girl they've never seen You shall be our secret weapon, we dub thee the Pirate Queen For countless days and nights, they sailed against the wind and rain On ferocious tides, a thousand bounties to claim Through fantasies and tall tales and drinks aplenty In time she became legend, and part of the family One fateful day in the murky depths lay a whirlpool so fierce No sooner was the bounty claimed that the hull and stern were pierced The vortex tore the ship apart, and she leapt into the sea Summoned all her strength and pulled herself free Unbeknownst to her, the ship's reputation had soared The royal navy scoured the wreckage and brought her aboard In chains, she was taken from the rest of the crew But in the confusion there was one thing she held true Och aye – och aye! Look to the sky Trouble did a-brew We never knew what hit us We've lost our captain and crew Och aye – och aye! Look to the sky Our flag will fly again The world has not seen the end of the Pirate Queen The royal navy docked at the imposing castle gates They led her to the hall and she pondered her fate If this was the end, she would not go like a coward As the false monarch entered, the pirate queen glowered "Your Majesty, if I might make this trial short I confess to all you've heard as I stand in your court But on the high seas, we heed only nature's rule You are not our monarch – I will not bow to you" The monarch glared daggers, but to the Pirate Queen's surprise She stepped down from her dais and looked her in the eyes "That's not what I ask, won't you listen in good faith? I desire not to ruin you, but to help you reinstate I'll restore your vessel, and return your crew I ask but two small favors of you Our royal fleet's expanding, but these plunderings delay us You will seek your bounties on the ships that dare raze us As to your fair figure, so fearsome and fine You will have your ship tomorrow, but tonight you will be mine" The sun rose on the courtyard as the queens said their goodbyes From the breezy ramparts she saw a pleasant surprise Countless ships in waiting, hers to command The finest fleet in all the land Onboard she was greeted by the old crew who'd survived A grizzled medic and a young sailor he'd revived She embraced them, but they took her aside and spoke free "Captain, how could you sell your soul to the queen?" You've cast a phantom upon us, the scepter of the night You'll go down as a spineless coward who bowed to the empire's might I admire your courage and I understand your fears But behind that silk canopy, all was not as it appeared Amidst whispered bliss, I secured us our sails But I'll never forget the land from which we hail All I saw were the gallows and the noble-hearted three When the tyrant came at me so passionately We'll depart this cove as friends, but upon our return The royal navy shall burn Och aye – och aye! She'll look to the sky Her blood will turn to ice She never knew her gambit would come at such a price Och aye – och aye! She looked in my eyes And thought I was in her grip But she never knew as she bit her lip That was all the pleasure from me she'd get The scheming empress will rue the day she met the Pirate Queen
