Anthony Charles Williams II (born May 16, 1975), better known by his stage name B.Slade, formerly known under the gospel moniker Tonéx ( TOH-nay), is an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, rapper, dancer, producer, and activist from San Diego, CA. He has gone by various names and aliases, but his primary stage name of choice had for years been "Tonéx". I have done my best to tell my story
And be as real as possible
About wherever I'm at
In my walk with God in life
As a man and...

"Real With U" means something different
To me now than when I first did it
So I had to re-record it
As the man I've become

And... I still just wanna be real with God
You know... it's very difficult
When people are judging you from the outside
Saying you need to "come back to God "

Assuming because you're out of their
Sight that you're out of God's mind
And that couldn't be further from the truth

I've gotten closer to God minus religion
I have matured to not need
An in between or a go between
Between me and... my big brother
And Heavenly Father, and Mother and sister
And auntie... He's everything to me
He's all I need...you know....

Of course "forsake not yourself
The assembling of yourselves together"
Even though we're in perilous times
This is not the time to get away from each other
This is the time to edify one another

But it's presumptuous when people are like
I wish you come back to God
Or go back to gospel...or go back...
It's always a "go back"
Homie, I press towards the mark... OK
Of the High calling which is Christ Jesus
Period...


That's why this project is so personal to me
Because it's really about my walk with God
Autonomous of systemic organized religion
And by not just reading the Word
Or reciting the Word but meditating on that Word
I am able to go higher and uhhh hopefully
This will begin that journey for you too

We're all on it, I have not attained
I haven't arrived... I'm still seeking Him
But the good part is

He is a rewarder of hem that diligently seek Him
That's a good thing

And regardless of what any religious person
Or uninformed person might say about me
The one thing they can't take away from me
Is that my heart still belongs to Him
