This poem is written in honor of, and is dedicated to, Anjanette Young
You're beautiful
Put some fucking clothes on that proud Black woman
The clowns that couldn't, wonders how this crowd found footing?
Couldn't even take her downtown booking
She's standing there half naked, yet your pants down looking, fuckers
Look here, fuckers, you're funded by your citizens
And Blacks are citizens, you predetermined their innocence
Due to your inner sins, passed from papas down to little kids
And little kids become their papas and the shift begins
You think you're proper because you popped in with a body cam
Wasn't quite as violent, no one's lying in a body bag?
It's just a woman crying, only on assignment, man
But then you coppers try to block it, always keep it silent, man
What goes on inside the mind of a man
Who stands there chewing gum like Charlie Tweeter
You see how hard they treat her
This shit is hardly theater, hardly new, and oft-repeated
Then we're supposed to back the blue when black and blue is how you leave us?
Then we're supposed to back the blue when black and blue is how you leave us?
Then we're supposed to back the blue?
You see these fucked up stories, are why we're saying
F*ck the police, and frying bacon
She's crying naked, her home invaded, scared of course
How you policing broken windows when you can't repair a door?
An ironing board?
By coppers equipped like you going to war?
Shit, call up MacGyver, he'll probably arrive in five, in like a Honda Accord
He'll pull out some cord and some old twine, have that door fixed in like no time
I'll say it just one fucking more time
Anjanette Young committed no crime
You barbarous beasts, it's par for the course
You barter for peace, while you're starting a war
And when you combatants come back in for more
You're gnashing your teeth, attacking the Brown, Black, and the poor
What's more you're abhorrent, so keep up decorum, hand in your reports
What you did or you didn't do, injuries or
How the skin that you're living in from the beginning
Has given you freedom to take away freedom
And if they don't like it, well, f*ck it, you beat them
Protecting and serving, expected to code
So sir, give that proud Black woman
Some motherfucking clothes
