Thoughts runnin' through my mind, while ya moms in labor
Got my baby girl, I wonder how I'm about to raise her
Need to be patient, some traits could still develop later
Try not to chastise, but instead I need to educate her
Teach her peace, and above all to love all
Keep that head high when its seemin' that it's all lost
No matter what you keep chuggin' along at all costs
And when you meet people, learn to cherish that small talk
Because you never know when that persons time is up
That could be the last moment that you spendin' time with us
But in this day of age, it's gettin' hard to say who gonna make and who won't because the times is tough
And if for some reason, somethin' was to happen to me
I hope our moments everlastin' like I imagined they'd be
Can't help but think about the times when we was rationin' feasts
And had to survive off of natural heat, barely lasted a week
You're just a toddler, I don't expect you to understand
But daddy's always gon try to be here to hold your hand
There's things that I can't pass along, I know mother can
And she's been the one of the few to stick around while the others ran
And life will surely get tougher the more you come of age
There's no doubt there will be obstacles that you'll need to face
Don't be afraid, I've learned the tricks of the trade
For all the lessons I've endured I plan to fill up every page
When I write my story, but pray one day you get to hear it
I don't want you to end up being another broken spirit
Graduation day I can't wait to make an appearance
So I can embarrass you, that's the job of a caring parent
And ima be here through the thick and thin

If there's one last thing to say, it's that I'm proud to be your dad

My entire plan is to give you somethin' I never had

My goal in life is just to see you better than me
