Why do my people hurt each other when everyone else is tryna hurt us, too
You must treat me like your brotha
Cuz I'll do the same for you

We need to focus and prepare

My people want to laugh

My people want to live a happy life
But it happens to be so that not everybody can
Cuz every day we have to fight

Why do people keep forgetting that humankind originates from love
We exist in so many colors
But we bleed the same blood
And I'm looking for the day
When no more pain is in the air
And no more shame is in the air
Right now change is in the air
Can't stop me now

Oppression is depression from a lack of progression
But what can I do is the actual question
I know what it's like to be stifled by this passive aggression
But half of the lesson is learning how to manage a blessin'
I'd give it all
Just to see the day when my brethren
Could get along with one another without carrying weapons
We need a change
So I use my gift of expression to enlighten people
Cuz motivation is my profession

I've done so many things in my life that I'm not proud of
Been in situations I never thought I'd get out of
But how does the amount of
Negativity around us speak about us
I believe we have fallen from our callin'
Just take a look at New Orleans
People are starving
But all that ya'll are worried about is ballin'
Well all that I'm worried about is helpin' people see
That no matter what the challenge
We can get to victory

And who knows where it ends
All I know
Is that we can't pretend that life is perfect
So we must defend against injustice
One day we'll be there
