When I was young, my father said that faith can move a mountain. Now there's mountains as far as I can see. Time, it used to seem to me an ever-flowing fountain. Now I'm counting down the days 'til I am free. Do you recall the dreams we had and the way our hearts were pounding? That's how I thought our lives could ever be. When I was young, my father said that faith can move a mountain. It sounded good, but it made no sense to me. I had a band. We thought that we were the hottest thing around and We'd play downtown and our friends would come and see. To leave behind a legacy and stories worth recounting, That was the meaning of rock-and-roll to me. I wanted to rise above the wrecking yard of dreams deferred and drowning. I'm doubting now that will ever come to be. As I stare across the vast expanse, I can hear my father shouting But mountains are all that I can see.
