Strangers In The Street

Saw the night give way where the light was golden
so I took my leave of all that I was holding
darling come the day when your nightmares fall
I'll be on that first plane home and we'll outrun them all
well I guess it's sweet
we still live like strangers in the street

It's the cruelest thing when the word is spoken
I swear it's a sin to see you heartbroken
darling come the day it's too much to breath
I'll hold this space for you and I won't let you leave
I will keep the beat
we'll still move like strangers in the street

Darling come the time when you slip away
I'll be that whispered word that hangs around your doorway
our tale complete
we'll still dance like strangers in the street
