It was once upon a time
Before the words all seemed to rhyme 
I took a leap of faith across the county line

I wished upon a shooting star
That almost burned out from the start 
But I know what comes after a spark

Every night I still go to bed wide eyed and
Everyday seems to be full of my daydreams
I've got the guts but not the glory
I'm gonna say a little prayer for me
'Cuz this is just the beginning of my story

Now it's all falling into place
The jumbled words all rearranged
But I won't leave behind and empty page

I'll sing out for the old and young
For the folks back home in Owenton
And everyone i've ever known and loved
