The expected death after five millennia of biocidal religion
Disembodied science
Racial propaganda
Cynical political manipulation
And wealth and mind symbolism over matter 

We are the earth waking up 

You may well ask: how can you know of the building blocks of the universe? 
That the universe is mental? 
That the universe is composed of love like the ocean is composed of water? 
The edge of matter dissolves back into the formless realm, a blurry transition, a gradual boundary 

We are the earth waking up 

You've been there
Remember sound of light at the boundaries of sleeping? 
The force that, if allowed, pulls pain to the surface of the mind, the pain of the body erupts
It all releases, and blooms like a water lily from the mud? 

We are the earth waking up 

By what bidding came the bloom of the water lily? 
The seed to sprout and grow? 
This tiny product of death, itself dead, to magnetize the whirring elements of vegetable consciousness? 

We are the earth waking up 
We are the earth waking up 

Remember how your body persists
The liver red with life and lymph white with death
The dance of mammalian consciousness parading in spite of the Roman grid
The stress of gridlock as concussive on soft bodies as the linebacker on the gridiron
These square fields, square streets, square buildings, square bedrooms
On our eminently spherical earth
The vertical risers a mathematical abstraction pointing to the center of gravity
Also an abstraction 

We are the earth waking up 
We are the earth waking up 

Remember when, as a child
You rose from your nighttime resting place and slowly circled below the ceiling fan
Yet never moved a muscle? 
Remember the dreams of pinwheels on the ferry boat and the sky and flirtatious adolescents 
And how you watched it all unfold years later? 

We are the earth waking up 

Nobody can prove this to you: nobody but yourself
The experience of cosmic love arises naturally after years of disciplined study
Rigorous thought, measured action, dedicated meditation, and fervent prayer
Even in spite of all of these 

We are the earth waking up 

My consciousness may break through to universal love during play
Lovemaking, sitting by a brook
The leaves of grass and cottonwoods sound like shimmering light on eternal oceans
Spring vibrant rustles into dusty summer green and fall's yellow helicopters to rushing waters 

We are the earth waking up 

Love forms the context for hate
The consciousness of the universe consists of love
We experience this as compassion for the suffering
The intuitive satisfaction in a well-expressed painting, poem, prose; bridge, skyscraper, road
The branching river, veins of a hand or leaf, or government
Jokes 

We are the earth waking up
