I watch them go
Let go of all I know
I watch you come
From the distant lights
I've seen his face
A million times before
And I think of a different place
To be sure I'm sure

Lay it on lightly
Oh let it go down
I'm tired I'm lost but I don't wanna be found
They take the money
And I chase the gold
I'm lonely defeated but I've got my soul

Warm city rain
I can feel it in my veins
The eyes of you
Like the distant lights
Push and pull me through
Cos there's nothing else to do
Surrounded by fate
But I know I must wait

Lay it on lightly
Oh let it go down
I'm tired I'm lost but I don't wanna be found
They take the money
And I chase the gold
I'm lonely defeated but I've got my soul

Darkness has me
Not like it used to be
The eyes of you
Like the distant lights
So I keep my word
Believe in what I feel
If I go down too deep
Would you come with me?

Lay it on lightly
Oh let it go down
I'm tired I'm lost but I don't wanna be found
They take the money
And I chase the gold
I'm lonely defeated but I've got my soul
Lay it on lightly
Oh let it go down
I'm tired I'm lost but I don't wanna be found
They take the money
And I chase the gold
I'm lonely defeated so please now
Lay it on lightly
Oh let it go down
I'm tired I'm lost but I don't wanna be found
They take the money
And I chase the gold
I'm lonely defeated but I've got my soul
