Saw a torn down poster for a missing dog Things don't get to me that much, but this got to me a lot But then I question why, this plagued my mind, when we see bad news all the time Is there something wrong with me? Go online, and read the fake news, don't know which side to believe and I don't know how to choose When both sides have opposites points to find and multiple sources to prove them right And you wonder why I can't see? We're all connected Yet so disconnected I feel pathetic I can write a text but don't have a message Am I skeptical? Or do I just not care at all? Time online take it's toll In a world of headlines we just learn to scroll Pick what you care about Make sure to voice it loud You're altruistic now Occupied the moral high ground, no one can kick you out It's so important To stave off the boredom With the oxymoron Of cute videos overlayed on an article about torture I want to get out of my head Lay here I wanna die in bed I think I'll check my phone instead My cry for helps been left on read Bring up my mental health Cos I'm not doing well Not feeling very swell With a two year wait before I get some help Take the pills make it better Take the pills make it better Take the pills make it better Take the pills make it better, better, oh Take the pills make it better Take the pills make it better Take the pills make it better Take the pills make it better, better, oh If we cause all the problems How can we learn to solve them Progress Will never blossom If we don't learn to talk about it Why are we so dismissive? Of other perspectives Common ground is hard to find Like the missing dog with the torn down sign What do I know My opinion's not my own I'm just a culmination Of my favourite bands and my TV shows Got too much spare time So occupy it right By going online Finding pointless things to be offended by Cultural appropriation The drug of a nation Force fed some information To make you forget about your situation Cos we're all so divided With out minds already divided There's only one side that's right The world's not grey it's black and white What happened to a proper debate About the war on drugs and the hostile state Being overweight, being out of place, being underpaid, damaged and not too great I'm not saying there's not problems cos there is And I don't want to know your business But how can we ever fix it If we don't learn to talk about it There's no pill to make it better There's no pill to make it better There's no pill to make it better There's no pill to make it better, better, oh There's no pill to make it better There's no pill to make it better There's no pill to make it better There's no pill to make it better, better, oh If we cause all the problems How can we learn to solve them Progress Will never blossom If we don't learn to talk about it Why are we so dismissive? Of other perspectives Common ground is hard to find Like the missing dog with the torn down sign
