Clad in brass, vision focused Eyes dart left and right Lantern flickers like a star And turns dark into light Wading through the depths To find the remnants of my past Dark blue fog surrounding me I don't know how long I will last Air in good supply Peering out both sides Catching creatures out the corners of my bloodshot eyes Search becomes a strain Lost in my domain Scanning through the deep to score the gravy train Through the dim haze, a figure slowly fades into my vision What in the world could it be? Ever closer, ever looming. Framework soon becomes apparent I know now exactly what I see Algae covered hull Chipping it away I'm revitalized! Renewed caliber It's finally revealed Long worn hidden finish says it all! There is only one thing that I don't understand And all I can do is wonder How did my father know that his ship was to sink... here? SALTY! One step closer to reliving my lost past SARDINE! One step closer to realize legends amassed SALTY! My long quest has finally come to a close SARDINE! At long last, the past shall be completely known Inspecting my lineage Looking for a way in Diving further Infiltrate through a big hole Wonder how it got there? I have no clue Burning lights fill up the room Fragments of a lost age It's a damn mess Drifting through a missing scene Looking for importance Left by my dad Scanning through the empty rooms Nothing really of note Must keep looking I happen upon a chest Gilded thick in fine gold Mystic symbols (This is it An end to all the confusion As the latches click open, a blinding aura illuminates the bridge The memories come flooding back in bulk The dim sky is masked by his solemn smile A pat on the head, a hug, and his parting words "Don't worry. I'll be back one day Take care of yourself until then and cherish all I have given you. You'll be fine" A question of priority within that moment, but still a heart felt goodbye passes my lips The tears moisten my sleeves as I wipe away the despair He told me he'd return But he lost his way for this beautiful instrument I only wish he was still alive Not only out of longing and absent love Not only to make up missing days on the sundrenched seas Not only to end this eternal loneliness But to simply interrogate I wish to ask him Was this worth dying for? What did he care for more? Me or this treasure?) I marvel at the object inside Setting forth a golden glow from within I feel a surge go straight through me Heart pounds through Eyes treasure what they see And I feel a presence A ghost Please turn around
