I wore my first MxPx T-shirt in years I found it after moving and put it out and thought no Times not right, then just moved past it It was more then half my life ago When I saw my first punk show Little did I know that one foot print in time would cement the rest of my life Growing up in the Deep South punk rock was exactly what I needed Something different A new philosophy Something that made me feel completed Triggering an emotional core Of teenage angst, of fast food jobs Something to drive around to while I still had low fuel in my tank This was so freeing after my first warped tour I was proudly spouting everything I'd heard Like it was chosen scripture PETA was protecting animals George Bush was the worst And I'd never seen real combat our struggle, so I moved to the projects to get a taste of the streets My first place was a 2 bedroom on the north side for $70 a week or $400 a month My nice suburban home life bubble was popped with no real struggle I quickly got a fake ID, & I was buying Tanaka Vodka every night to put me to sleep I was working at the local Tower Records getting schooled in my high school days music lessons Growing up in the Deep South punk rock was exactly what I needed Something different A new philosophy Something that made me feel completed Triggering an emotional core Of teenage angst, of fast food jobs, something to drive around to while I still had low fuel in my tank I'd decided that I was punk rock till I'd Die Tattoo that band logo on my arm and I'd wear it with pride I'd always fight the man, and rise up with fist I'd be the loudest in the march of the protest Little did I know, my whole life was ahead of me I alway wore my heart on my sleeve thinking everything day was Always owed to me I'm proud to be working everyday, with a paycheck in had So I can come to my suburban home from downtown And put my my punk rock records on Growing up in the Deep South punk rock was exactly what I needed Something different A new philosophy Something that made me feel completed Triggering an emotional core Of teenage angst, of fast food jobs Something to drive around to while I still had low fuel in my tank
