She would barter for good 'til she'd end up paid 
When she got taxed, she'd hit the penny arcade 'til dawn 
She'd play and play 'til her luck did come 
She could've hit the strip, spent it one by one 
But she split the pot with the joker and his son 
Because people all over the world 
Forgot about Mary 

When it all shook down at the end of the day 
And became too much for old Mary to save 
She tipped her hat and set off on her merry way 

They all looked and looked for one of Mary's kind 
But a soul like that is so hard to find 
In that gesture, Mary found peace of mind
