A mighty phoenix flew 
He burst with light, and fires bright 
And was reborn anew 
His luscious feathers gold 
A silky soothing down 
And like a wreath, he sat beneath 
A feathery flaming crown 
Once upon a time 
A mighty phoenix died 
He could not rest, and so his quest 
He had to set aside 
His love was put on hold 
So he could resurrect 
For ashen wings of ancient kings 
Could not depart unchecked 

Hark! Hark! The Restless Phoenix 
He's lived a hundred deaths to live today 
Oh how he yearns for freedom 
It's time to put your arrows all away 

Once upon a time 
A stealthy hunter stood 
She saw his flame and took her aim 
As any hunter would 
And when she saw him rise 
A thought came to her mind 
She felt no shame and found a game 
With rules that she designed 
She had her clothing charmed 
To shield her from the heat 
So when he ached she never baked 
In flames so bittersweet 
And though she saw him hurt 
And grew to love the bird 
She loved the thrill too much to still 
The thirst that in her stirred

The phoenix cried aloud 
"I know you're having fun
But all your lust has made me dust 
Oh when will you be done?"

But can't I rest and manifest

The hunter paused in thought 
Alarmed to hear him speak 
Her shielded heart was torn apart 
Surprised to feel so weak 
Unsure of what to feel 
She fell upon a glade 
He flew to her, and there they were 
Embracing in the shade
