Let me tell you all a story, about a man I used to know
He came out from the city, many years ago
Not looking for a fortune, just looking for some land
And singing hallelujah, with a bible in his hand

Well he came out with his father, when he was fifteen
Out into the country, white man had rarely seen
He said to himself, "This is where I'll make my stand"
And stayed and worked the soil, with a bible in his hand

And he'd cling to the old rugged cross by day
And at night he'd tell his kids of Gods amazing grace
He'd sing blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
Walking hand and hand with Jesus out on the eastern line

Along with depression, a drought was on the land
And many walked away, you could understand
But when he met a girl, he asked her for her hand
And stayed and raised a family, with a bible in his hand

Well the years rolled by, and the young man he got old
And then he passed away, and that's his story told
Many gathered there as they laid him in the sand
Now hes no need for his bible, Coz he's talking to the man

And the people remain at that spot till this day
And they remember their forefathers who pioneered that place
And many things have changed but somethings never will you'll find
Still walking hand in hand with Jesus out on the eastern line
