Walking Wounded

Walking Wounded is the ninth studio album by British musical duo Everything but the Girl. It was released on 6 May 1996 by Atlantic Records in the United States and Virgin Records in Europe. The album saw the group adopting a more electronic and dance-based style, following the success of the remixed version of "Missing" from their previous album, Amplified Heart. Four tracks from the album were released as singles, including the drum and bass-influenced "Walking Wounded" and the house-influenced "Wrong", which became top ten hits on the UK Singles Chart, as well as the downtempo track "Single", which set Tracey Thorn's emotionally direct vocal against breakbeats, organ and strings, and "Before Today". more »

No you don't say much these days
Now they don't say much
Better not say much these days
No you don't say much
So much better to stay quiet
Do you a lot better to just stay quiet
No you don't say much these days
Now you don't say much
Better to stay, keep to yourself naw man now you don't say much
Even your mama said she told you boy, now you don't say much
And when the warmth washed over his face he failed to say much
You dont say much
You dont say much
Don't bother anyone
No you dont say much

Coming to after chasing rabbits
Blurry vision like what the f*ck happened?
Outlaw, Man Danger, abandoned cabin
All torn up, beaten and bruised
They came for the gold, they knew they had bars
Follow the trail right back to the vault
Unlisted locked up like they never existed
Too clever for a couple of misfits
Left alive they wouldn't have risked it
Had to have help but the memories liquid
Suspended thought, rattled box
Cradles head while taking bandages off
So confused, did we tend to these wounds?
How long have we been here are we safe in this room?
Well I dont know bud but it's making me ill
And f*ck this narrator cause were live in the field
They only come looking when there's something to steal
So back up the backups, encrypt the seal
Pass the flack jacket, straps and swords
Walking Wounded two ther'll be no remorse
Batten down the hatches and stay the course
Cause were comin for the key that can open doors
What - you thought I'd wake up and be all suppressed?
Sorry you can't silence these weapons yet
Pack the mag clips, sharpen the blade tip
Just enough bullets put holes in the flagship
Provisions for the troops now what are they laced with?
Im a sick f*ck, Ill blow your shit up
I'll make you hate life and want your wrists cut
Acting all tough mister billy goat gruff
There's way more us can't reach em with the tusk
People realize, become allies

Dark days to come
You'll feel the light later on
They say play nice
I say you're dumb
And watch you bow down
You fuckers bow down
Dark days to come
You'll feel the light later on
They say play nice
I say you're dumb
And watch you bow down
Fuckers bow down
