The story begins July 20th, 1969 with the world on the edge of their seats As 3 men made their way to the moon The Creighton family home in Houston, Texas was alive with activity for this momentous event Foster Creighton, a young boy of 6, had never seen his dad quite like this Humming out loud, he seemed almost giddy with delight And there was a sparkle in his eyes that Foster had never noticed before But something like this had never happened before And then it was time Foster and his parents sat together in the living room All three of them entranced watching the very first astronaut step on the surface of the moon That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind - Neil Armstrong And so, Foster, in awe of the greatest achievement of mankind Turned from these courageous Heroes on the screen to his dad, and he looked up, and he asked Could I do anything as great as them They seem to have a fire so deep within And I just don't know if I will ever get there You can do anything if you set your mind All the things you can't change: leave 'em all behind Act on your dreams with open eyes And you'll get there Foster's dad, marveling at this moment, stood up in triumph and exclaimed The mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive But in finding something to live for - Dostoevsky I believe it is in our nature to explore, to reach out into the unknown. - Ernest Shackleton There is nothing impossible to him who will try - Alexander the Great The dreamers of the day are dangerous men For they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible. - T. E. Lawrence And then he turned to his family and said, tomorrow I've got something to show you, it's gonna lead to a grand adventure The next morning, Foster woke at once with first light, full of eager anticipation Beyond excited for what his dad had in store for this day Quickly, he burst out of bed, launched out his bedroom door like a rocket shooting into the sky He leaped down the steps saying Dad, it's morning! I'm ready to go! What are we gonna do? What are you gonna show me Foster couldn't wait to see what it was and to experience it together But, hearing a noise in the next room, he paused Something wasn't right He opened the door to see his mother's grief fully expressed Foster went to her and said, "Mom? What is it, mom Slowly, his mother lifted her tear-filled eyes to his and said He's gone... He's gone... and I don't know if he's coming back She handed Foster the tear-stained note scribbled by a hurried hand that read I have to go, I'm so sorry, I'll always love you Foster felt like he couldn't breathe - like all air had been sucked out of the world He didn't understand He didn't want it to be true He wished he could turn back time and see his dad once more
