Jomo Kenyatta (c. 1897 – 22 August 1978) was a Kenyan anti-colonial activist and politician who governed Kenya as its Prime Minister from 1963 to 1964 and then as its first President from 1964 to his death in 1978. He was the country's first president and played a significant role in the transformation of Kenya from a colony of the British Empire into an independent republic. Paint as a rose
Remember me for my beauty
But not only my beauty
For what they did to me
Cause I’m delicate so I had to grow these thorns
To protect myself from people so my petals don’t get torn
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Let’s start with the stem
Cant forget the thorns cause I can’t let nobody in
Cause inside has been broken
Got words that ain’t been spoken
About how my heart feels
That’s why I got this shield
Cause I’ve been hurt before
From opening up that door
My petals have been stepped on and ripped off and torn
Dressed in elegance from my head to my toes
So all I’m asking you is to
Paint as a rose
Remember me for my beauty
But not only my beauty
For what they did to me
Cause I’m delicate so I had to grow these thorns
To protect myself from people so my petals don’t get torn
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
I’m a symbol of love and thats why you need me here
Always been from the start and I would never disappear
Cause my heart is to pure
No poison or pesticides
I’ve alway kept it real
Not plastic no need to lie
They tried to drown out my parade but I can bloom without rain
Left me out so high and dry and now I feel so much pain
They picked my pedals one by one until they got all that they need
And now my heart so incomplete
So please
Paint as a rose
Remember me for my beauty
But not only my beauty
For what they did to me
Cause I’m delicate so I had to grow these thorns
To protect myself from people so my petals don’t get torn
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
Paint me as a rose
