Its two sides to one coin. As awful as you felt
People that's unhappy themselves makes you unhappy with yourself
So we stay in our shells, 'til we're taken by a tide
Which I find so ironic because we're drowning inside
I reach out to anybody that has fallen too deep
I offer mine because a hand is sometimes all that you need
Look, I admire people like you cause you know what's pain
The ones that only know what's joy, don't really know a thing
Every day they are alive but never notice they're living
'Til they're old, about to die and begin reminiscing
They have a different sense of living and that's party and spending 
Money taken from their hands instead of time that is given
Dropped a tape about me hurting and peeped other people hurting
Ain't stream enough to splurge but, was still more than worth it
It proved I could help. This is bigger than myself
Simply empathize with those who are no different from myself
Just know your pain is felt. I know that illness could linger
All these emotions being vented from the lift of a finger 
Could've partnered with some homies that was hitting licks dawg
Put my money on my gift dawg, not on a gift card
Though I admit, I'm still afraid to quit my 9-5
I went and got it back after the one time that I tried
Feel like we all taught to feel secured by our jobs
Then before we get our checks, the government take its part (Damn nigga)
Learned business from someone without a business
If she did have a business, she wouldn't teach to begin with
My point: school ain't teach to work for myself
Just how to work for a check and how to work for my debts
Excuse my ramble, these are just some thoughts in a poem
I'm not saying drop out. I'm saying, know why you going
My mom brought me here from a 3rd world country 
Plenty parents did the same but, it's still worth something
Stayed with her bro, we were a nuisance then
Gathered our things and found a stranger with a room to rent
Today, she raise two kids in section 8
All that taught me was, keep moving and never break
Not to devastate myself with yesterday
Bad times are first steps to better days
Left the crib and got married, now there's obligations
You may think I'm rushing things but, she taught me patience
Use to not speak for weeks because we got in a fight
Came a long way from those days and she'll be coming tonight
To vent a little, get sentimental, her voice gentle
Words kindle, adding lyrics to my heart's instrumental
It's just her and these notes that really know who I am
New niggas come around like they know who I am
But never get to know me. Though, I hate interviews
Can't you see my best friends are the same from middle school
I was blue and 22. Not the best first impression
I'm really chill and uplifting, not so down and depressive
