Blood on the Saddle

Blood on the Saddle is an American country-punk band, though often referred to as a cowpunk band, from Los Angeles, California, United States. Greg Davis (vocals, guitar) formed the band in early 1983 with the original line-up of Ron Botelho (upright bass, bass) and Hermann Senac (drums, vocals). Annette Zilinskas (vocals, guitar) joined in the summer of 1983. They released three albums, one EP and songs on one compilation before that line-up broke up in 1987. Band leader Greg Davis has continued the band to present day, with one break to work with The Vandals and Candye Kane. I went walking on Boot Hill
Counting tombstones of the men I've killed
From the earth up jumped their bones
Their teeth clacked out, we're so alone
Skeleton fingers holding a dead man's hand
Card game gambling in no man's land
Well, I've still got aces up my sleeve
And I laugh to hear your sweethearts grieve

Abilene, Abilene, Abilene
Meanest town I've ever seen

Out on the trail of the buffalo
Come on, all you brave men, don't you wanna go
I'll tame the rattlesnakes, make 'em my pets
They won't sink their fangs in me yet
On the Western plain, where the bullets fly
I'm not afraid and I never cry
Where many a man with his gun
Will sink like the sun before I'm done

Abilene Abilene Abilene
Meanest town I've ever seen

Come on, baby, put on your blue dress
We'll ride the prairies we like the best
Where the clouds floating way up high
Look like ghosts riding in the sky
Where the sun is hot and the sky is clear
We'll make love on the wild frontier
We can roam these dusty plains
On the tallest rock we'll carve our names

Ti-yi-yippy-ti-yippy-I-yay
Ti-yi-yippy-ti-yippy-I-yay
Ti-yi-yippy-ti-yippy-I-yay
Ti-yi-yippy-ti-yippy-I-yay

At night I dream of bloody battles
And I listen to my enemy's death rattle
Dancing on this dirty red ground
The sweetest prize I could've found
A little blonde haired, blue eyed, pretty girl
Who I love more than anyone in this world
And we won't rest and we won't stop
'Til we take this town for all it's got
