Hello, and welcome to Weather Today. As we are now moving towards autumn, the highs of 25 and 26 Celsius weve been seeing over recent weeks will start to seem like a distant memory. For some of us, it is going to be a rather wet and windy start to the day, with large areas of cloud, especially in northern and eastern areas. As we move into tomorrow, the cloudy skies will continue to affect most areas, and the cloud capable of producing some spells of rain for much of the UK, so remember to take your umbrella with you if you are heading out and about. Into the evening as well its likely to stay really quite damp, with further outbreaks of rain, so watch out for some spray and surface water etcetera on the roads if you are driving. We may see some breaks in the clouds across Northern Ireland and through western Scotland at times, and there will be some dry moments too, so its not going to be raining all the time, with temperatures hovering around 12 Celsius about average for the time of year. As we move across to northern and central parts of England, there will be a lot of cloud around too, bringing patches of light rain and drizzle at times. Despite the cloud, though, it will still feel fairly mild, so nothing too cold, with temperatures hovering around the mid-teens, and those temperatures wont drop away too far either through the evening and overnight period, especially for London and parts of the south-east. These large areas of cloud are also looking to stay with us for much of the week, especially over England and Wales. Over the border in Scotland, you may find some clearer skies; its looking quite blustery, though, with brisk north-westerly winds. Moving to the more northerly parts of Scotland, some very high gusts of wind which are possible, which may even reach gale force at times, and these will push in heavy showers in the morning; these easing, though, by the afternoon. Temperatures in these areas will hover around 9 or 10 degrees Celsius, much cooler than what weve been seeing of late. You may even need to take a few extra layers if you are heading out and about. As we move to the end of the week, it may feel like a bit of a shock to the system, with a noticeable drop in our temperatures. Areas of low pressure will begin to move in from the Atlantic with their various weather fronts, so you can expect some really quite unsettled conditions, so some heavy showers accompanied by some strong and gusty winds too. Temperature-wise, ranging between 4 Celsius in the north to just 8 Celsius further south. On to the weekend, where the weather will be fairly similar to how we started the week. So lots of cloud around, affecting much of England and Wales, including Northern Ireland. There will be some brief, bright or sunny spells at times as the cloud breaks up, but it will be fairly short-lived. We can also expect some gusty winds. A deeper area of low pressure is expected to move in for much of next week, keeping things rather unsettled, so cloudy skies and further spells of rain at times, particularly heavy over the hills with some brisk winds too. So, all in all, a very typical start to autumn, with many areas seeing spells of rain and a noticeable drop in temperature. So thats the weather for this week.
