Mom is there a time that I haven't come to you ill
From the day I was born when I had to stay in the hopital
I hope you know I always tried to make you proud still
And I picked the instrumental for this poem because it was called his will

And that saved me so many times from getting killed
I was searching for anything to fill the whole in my heart but came up nill
I must be workin to many heart strings to kill this pain with this art, but it beats pills
Its cuz being hurt n being smart the same is more dangerous

I when it mattered most you stepped up to being a great mimi to my son
That was when I was at my lowest and you took me to church 
And kept showing me every week how far id come
And reminding me of the battles he won
And that we were winning
Hes been perfect from the beginning
And me I worked at sinning like it was gonna be my ending
Politicians ripped The Bible to shreds when I was minnie
Along with the liberal school system and noone was defending
Pinning the worlds problems on Christianity till the final inning
Now noones grinning
As we realize on earth satans winning
But my Mom never stop giving
Me a life preserver that was fitting
You knew the best thing you could be giving
Were the words the pastor was pitching
And now that I have a son of my own it's something that I'm getting
And understanding
You tried to love me and I'd come in with another whammy
Thinking I was tough and smart when I'm just a sham I be
And if my kid didn't live in Orange I'd probably move to miami
That was my plan b
And If my Mom said no to being the court monitor for my visitation it was plan A
But you came around
And now I get to see him with you and my sister today
And God shows up at the perfect time in mysterious ways
Soon as I think I have him figured out a new game he plays
A new story and phase
For my sin he pays
As we walk this maze
And my Mom's had the map all of her days.
So when I experience delays or feel like I need a raise
She'll always focus on the lessons Jesus conveys and point out how Satan betrays
Making boquets on workdays and holidays to find a different pathway now a days my Mom knows the Christian ladys ways and stays in Gods praise
I can tell my maker listens whenever she prays
I felt it in the things she'd say when my life was sideways
She'd paraphrase that although his force is invisible like gamma rays
Its powerful unlike self praise
Treat sin to a give away, bring it to his feet to lay and experience a new pathway
Mom theres just to many things I could say
I'd worry about a resume and you'd tell me its ok to pray
And God gave me everything anyway
When he gave me you and you thought he gave me to you on my birthday.
