I am a child of the 50s, I spent my boyhood days with Elvis as the king Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Sam and Dave, Fabian and Jerry Lee Then we were teenagers, and thought that we were grown We cruised into the 60s with the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Janis and the Stones We partied at Woodstock, we watched our friends killed in Vietnam We swore upon their graves that we'd never fight a war like that again Free love and kindness we'd spread across the sea We were so damn optimistic that we could set the whole world free All we wanted to was peace, but all we got was war We were all about love, and not fighting anymore We were gonna get naked, we were gonna high And never come down, and not even try What the hell happened?
