I lived a life that was sappy and cruel   
I was that one kid in the class who was simple but no one understood
I was a king, while at home i was cool
And every Saturday I'd sit in bed and dread the thought of going to school
I was a kid and they made me a tool
And I never knew any girls, because I was weak and I wasn't cool
I was that guy everyone made a fool
Except a few who saw the light in me and spoke with me and said I could rule

I was that run him over type kid
Beat him up he's weak kid
All his clothes are bogus, got no swag and stay alone kid
Take all of his food kid
Make him take the blame kid
You think that you cool because your dad got money type kid
"You'll be okay" type kid
Go and wash my clothes kid
"Call him down and beat him up because she made you mad" kid
Just live through the pain kid
You can't have a life kid
Thinking that you better just because you got some smarts kid

I tried to pray, every night before bed
I never cried but I remember calling out every night cause I was scared
What if I slept, and my clothes disappeared
I know this all sounds weird, If you were there I bet you would understand
I never knew God was building me up
And everything I had to go through were just stepping stones for who I've become
Now I look back to see how far i have come
And then I get on my knees and stay humble because I know where I'm from
