The role models of today, the people we display
On our television shows and the like just portray
The worst traits in people, that hurting and hating people
Carries no consequence and it's okay to betray
Fashions come and go, we're led blindly and follow
Those we look up to, we do as they do
Whether it's dressing as they dress or acting like them
And trust me they are acting, none of it's true

They influence our everyday lives as they pass
If monogamy doesn't work for them then why should it for me
So she cheated on her boyfriend and now she's rich and pretty
It worked out fairly good there, so I guess if I don't care
F*ck around, play games, mess with their heads for personal gains
So long as I'm alright hey? And a long chain of hurt and pain is all that remains
But we've done this to ourselves! On the TV, internet, magazines, papers
We elevate these so-called entertainers, we're the ones doing them favours
By watching them, when they've been setup on TV for us to mock them
We should stop them, the rich and powerful out yachting and island hopping
Whilst their shows make millions out of people stuck on TV crying and sobbing
Put in front of a panel of four people, they dreamed of this moment it's everything so it's lethal
When those four people sat on their high horses, laugh and mock them for fucks sake it's evil
Set them up to knock them down, publicly humiliate them and beat them to the ground
But what does everyone care? So long as you've had a laugh whilst you were there
So what if that persons life is in tatters, everything they ever wanted was crushed and shattered
So long as you were sat on your couch at home with a takeaway laughing on your own
The fact that person was made fun of, bullied, mocked then what else matters
Have we no empathy, no sympathy, maybe if that was your son or daughter it would factor
Behind these failed attempts are people that have rightly or wrongly encouraged them
Some believed in what they could do, some deceived them so they could laugh and be cruel
It's painful, watching someone on stage being ridiculed, told they're terrible, useless, verbally abused
They've been used, these shows know what they're doing, they know how to keep people amused
Put yourself in their shoes, how it is to be judged, no hiding behind those damning reviews
Trying to make it, you're older now, got a family and don't know how much more you can take it
Returning to work on Monday in your 9-5, a laughing stock and back to the grind
The dream didn't come true, in fact, it turned sour, and now a bitter taste left in their mouth
Doubting all those around, for letting them get up, setting them up to fail that was all that it was about,
Did you watch it? Laugh at it? Share it? Then you've played a part
But I hope these words will make you listen to your heart, it's not that hard
Turn off the TV, leave the screen, treat others as you would want to be
It seems we've forgotten so many lessons that as a kid were drilled into me
But we can change and be so much better, that I guarantee

I'm dreaming, believing
I'm in this nightmare getting chased
Getting braced for something bad
Something had now better get me just to wake me up
Oh I'm dreaming

We're bringing kids up on tablets and phones way too young
Their lives are controlled online and can't be undone
I hope they will learn to talk and meet in person, connect with each other
For a story of true friendship never started like this
Remember that time we connected online, I would comment regularly on your life
Years went by, didn't need to meet, just saw it on my news feed
Nah don't remember that, well neither do I

So when did you last laugh with a friend until you cried
Was it online, on Skype, over phone or Facetime
Or were you actually there to see the veins appear on their head
As they howled went red embarrassed and repeating what you'd said
Making them laugh so hard you kept cracking up every time you'd move on the conversation
To the point you're both losing the plot and letting yourselves run away with your imagination
Those moments are special can't be bought they bond you, belong to just the two of you
Remind you you've got a friend who gets you, predicts you, knows you
Presses your buttons just right to get the best out of you and make you look a fool
In a good way, and keep you grinning whether you're winning or in a bad way on a crap day
They'll be there for you, have your back and say the right things to make it all better
Hell, I'm telling you, I have never felt that from a 100 character pm on messenger

I'm dreaming, believing
I'm in this nightmare getting chased
Getting braced for something bad
Something had now better get me just to wake me up
Oh I'm dreaming
