We haven't written in so long now
This brings me back to older times
But I've had wine, so I feel no shame
Now how was it you spelled your last name?

Here are a few words to you my friend
I'm glad to send some news your way
Feel free to answer, I'll probably burn your letter
And hope I never hear from you again

As I walked out the other day 
To start my morning stroll
I came to think along the way
"How is my old friend Paul?"

"We used to get on real well
Maybe I should reach out
When I told him to go to hell
I didn't mean to shout"

I know you'd like to see me
And you won't believe this
But the best friends turn out to be 
The ones we see the least

It's not that I don't want to
I would love to meet again
But I've made plans to have some coffee
With everybody else 

Of all the things that I hold dear
Our friendship gets the crown
Still I had a few doubts to clear
So, I've been asking 'round

It's not that common it appears
To have friends that you hate
I even found some people here
For whom friendship was great

I know you'd like to see me
And you won't believe this
