He had rough life, standing 6yrs old
His daddy shipped back to that Caribbean home

Deportation complicated situation
Moms on drugs
Running from her inner Satan

Abandoned house two children
Mom strung on crack
While she's out 
He keeps his little sister

Searching through the cupboard 
Wondering what scraps to fix her

He only seven 
Working the stove
'Cuz his mom prostituting 
In and out home

One night a man gets O-C
Slamming him down 
As he tried to help his mommy

Damn

Next day he goes to school
But when he in there 
He breaking every single rule
Stranded in a room 
Wit' nothing to eat 
He takes him and his sister 
And then hits the streets

Skin mahogany 
She stood eighty-seven
Turned to me and said every day is a blessing 
The sweetest joy ever present in this elder 
Stood a few feet from me but I still felt her 
What's kept her from being pessimistic? 
Love overflowing I could see it in her spirit 

Skin smooth 
Wrinkles barely showin'   
Peaceful soul from within 
She was glowin'    
Reminiscent of my grandma who passed 
And in the end only memories we have 
No matter good or bad they become our story 
I can see her now 
Giving God glory 

What lies before me?
I don't really know 
So I spread wings
And never lose hope 
Wise words I wrote 
That came from within 
And so I bare it all 
With the end of a pen

Scorched earth 
Sun beating down

Desert each direction 
An old small town

No one is around 
'Cuz everyone left

When they heard war planes 
Bombing them to death

Looking for a few 
A needle in a haystack

Remote controlled drones 
Designed to split ya' wig back

Yeah 
Death and destruction 
Kill or be killed 
War's only function

Will it ever heal? 
The pain and the misery 
While political parties 
Show no empathy 
And no sympathy 
What are we doing? 
Dying over dollars 
Peace lying in the ruin 

In the end 
What can be done?  
Pain will surely end when we see we're all one  
Perception is reality 
We are what we believe 
When we're at war 
Love's the first casualty
