On the Yucatan peninsula
In times of dust and stone
An ancient people came to dwell
The Mayans they were known
The Shaman spoke of what to come
And none would disagree
The calendar revealed the date
The world would cease to be

The Mayans did not prosper long
They crumbled into sand
But the word remains in present day
To spread throughout the land
The prophecy is troubling
But might we be relieved?
We should not meet our doom
If the news were misconceived

The cycle of the cosmos
May truly come to close
But only that a calmer age
Replaces that which goes
A time of understanding
At oneness with the earth
Of knowledge, truth and wisdom
A terrestrial rebirth
