I woke up one day from a dream
I was feeling pretty clever
And feeling pretty mean
I thought I could handle any scene
Till I was proven dead wrong by reality

I traveled to a tavern first
Knowing where I was going I needed to quench my thirst
Didn't have the slightest inkling that I was cursed
I was distracted by the quest in which I was immersed

I traveled to a time forgotten town
Thinking I could push people around (Thinking)
When I tell the clerk to hit the ground
Yah I think I will astound this old little township

The place was vacant 'cept for the clerk and myself
He was staring at my back as I was staring at the shelf
I figured I should prob'ly be stealth
Don't wanna draw attention to the impending hell

Cuz I might just throw caution to the wind

To his surprise I paid for my groceries
Before I told him to bend to his trembling knees
He didn't hesitate to give me the office keys
He knew the sight of the safe would save his life and appease

The conscience was clean but the cash was dirty
I was headin' toward the highway in a hurry
Until I was confronted by the one man's fury
He said I'm the judge, executioner and the jury

I said welcome to the monkey house where I commit sin
I am gonna through all of my caution to the wind
Try and take your life away even thought it's a sin
To continue on the wretched path that I've been wandering

With pistols pulled we removed our ammunition
Attempting to stay out of one another's vision
My trigger finger took a shot that him
How the hell did my mind come to this decision

I dragged the body off into the brush
I left a strip of rubber as I burned out in a rush
The evidence that I left it wasn't much
But for the sheriff of the county it was just enough

I said welcome to the monkey house where I commit sin
I am gonna through all of my caution to the wind
Try and take your life away even thought it's a sin
To continue on the wretched path that I've been wandering

I took shelter in an abandoned shop
I was shocked and I was feeling half cocked
I knew they wouldn't take me standing up
So I loaded my pistol when I heard the cops

Now all I ask is that you do not ignore me
I am trying to tell you a cautionary story
One that by now should be boring
Megalomaniacs are given too many warnings!
