In his knee high boots through the soggy foggy bogs

Damp and dank and clammy and all

A huge black lump floated as big as a tank
A dark eye opened with jolt and jerk
And a mouth raised up with a sly old smirk

But if its sloopy slimy sluggy soupy swill 
I'll eat it all day till I get my fill 

But there's a few things I'd still like to try
I've never had a nice warm fruity pie
I've never tasted macaroni and cheeses 
People food like those black-eyed peas
Potato salad, big bowls of cream
Some greasy greens sounds delicious to me
If you give me some food after I chew and chomp  
I'll give you a ride on my back like the King of the swamp!

the fish gobbled it down in the blink of an eye
After he finished every crumb and scrap 
He said I'll give you a that ride once I've had my nap
But he yawned so big Joe was sucked into his mouth
It closed with slap before Joe could climb out
Wake up! Joe cried it's dark and there's ooze
But the fish just grunted and a snored as he snoozed

Joe took out a feather he kept in his pocket
And tickled that gullet hoping to unlock it
The fish tried to hiccup but Joe was there to block it
Then coughed so hard Joe shot out like a rocket
And the catfish said

All that fancy food gave my insides a seesaw
I dreamed I had something boney stuck in my craw
But jump on my back cause a deals a deal
Even though I can't say I enjoyed that meal

Joe rode through the swamp like a prince on a horse
He wave to his friends and Grampa of course
And the catfish said I should have known all along
They all joined in and sang this song
