But these stories on my news feed got my head spinning
Got me questioning these times that I'm living
Like damn this is the era that my kids are gonna live in
I pray to God he always keeps my kids safe
Because nowadays kids beat their parents to the grave
And just the other day I saw a mother who is pain
Because she found her daughter's body 20 miles from a base
She was a soldier and somebody's kid
Sexually harassed and nobody did spit
Thank you for your service, you really did it big
I hope you tell God everything that they did
God will do everything we can't do
But he won't do anything we can do
And there's no way that we're gonna let this slide
Because if we do then we've already died
They took Vanessa's life and I hope that her story
Gets the same recognition as that of George Floyd
I'm just trying to use the power of my voice
Because being powerless is no longer a choice

Protesting got us walking to the wrong places
How come we're not marching to the ICE cages
This is dedicated to the kids who didn't make it
Cramped up in small spaces with no bed just a blanket
I'm looking at their faces and their death has me bothered
They should of never been in custody with these monsters
Man that could've been my son or my daughter
I take this to the heart because it hurts me as a father
And we should never stop caring
But we need to do a lot more than raise awareness
We're grown-ups now and some of us are parents
With that being said, we shouldn't let our kids parish
All we do is talk about it for a week
Then continue with our lives posting memes
To all my geez, we need to cut it with the beef
We need to get in groups, hit the streets, and roll deep
I'm sick of hearing all this power that we have at reach
But can't put it to use when our people is in need
I'm just trying to use the power of my voice
Because being powerless is no longer a choice

I've seen enough clips of street vendors getting jacked
Imagine being recorded and they put it on blast
It really makes me sad to see our people get harassed
Dear homies on the block, We need to have their back
This stuff happens in the hood that we claim
We gotta do our part to keep each other safe
Imagine coming home bruised up with no pay
When that's the only job that you got to maintain
This is a problem that we need to take care of
There's a couple of other things that we need to clear up
We can not allow a fool behind a badge with a strap
And shoot our kids in the back to work as a sheriff
God didn't promise that the world would be humane
So he gave us the gift of life so we can choose the way
That we utilize our time that we have in this place
And I think Cesar Chavez meant that we need change
It's been a hell of a year
We've lost a lot but I'm glad we're still here
And I'm just trying to use the power of my voice
Because being powerless is no longer a choice
