Pale Shelter

"Pale Shelter" is a song by the British band Tears for Fears. Written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith, it was originally the band's second single release in early 1982. The original version of the song, entitled "Pale Shelter (You Don't Give Me Love)", would not see chart success at the time of its original UK release. However, it would later become a top 20 hit in Canada and would become a top 75 hit when it was reissued in the UK in 1985. The generally better-known version was a re-recording from 1983. This version eventually became the third UK top 5 chart hit taken from Tears for Fears' debut LP The Hurting (1983), peaking at number 5. As with the previous two singles, the song also reached the top 40 in several other countries. more »

A vision of a goddess
No signals of a witness to be seen
You've gone and put yourself into a new and strange surrounding
I've wondered where the knife fits
And I've found a couple holes inside of me
The frozen pipes are bursting
The resolution bit rate shrinking down

Now I'm lost in the passion
Waging war with the past again
I'm in love with the fabric
Hoping it matches the blood in your skin

I found a purpose
Shrink wrapped in the bones of my skull
I ripped it open all the contents just came pouring right out
I'd loved to have closed it
But they wouldn't stretch back with any ease
These frozen pipes are bursting
The resolution bit rate shrinking down

Now I'm caught in the madness
Draining life from your oxygen
I'm in lust with the tragic
Hoping it captures
Bullet and pin

Fingers like lines
Entangle my thoughts and my patters
Rip through the vines
Forget everything that comes after this

Like you said I would, when you did
In the morning light
Go back to sleep and goodbye
The last breaths of your life
Without a love by your side
Without a love by your side

Assuming you're all right
I thought I'd watch you go
I thought I'd watch you die

I couldn't wake just to say that I loved you
And it's a stain on every happy time you left me to lose
And it's a game, getting caught up in my youth
So they will say
But then the goddess, well
Her name was truth
I couldn't wake just to say that I loved you
And it's a stain on every happy time you left me to lose
And it's a game, getting caught up in my youth
So they will say
But then the goddess, well
Her name was truth

You know her name
You know you
