Rankin Road
North of Greens
Yea
Lets take it back to White Gate Lane
When life was so simple, man but how things change
Momma off of brain surgery with migraine pains
Daddy had his own issues, then his sideflame came
Ain't try blame games, took it in stride
My mindframe strange, i couldn't cry
When mom grabbed her things, we took a drive
Then Rushcreek Drive where we'd reside
My aunt Elaine stayed on the other side
In Greenspoint, where they'd David Blaine with ya ride
Round the time where Damon Wayans was Major Payne
And staying off Northborough, it wasn't the safest thang
Scrappin change, tryna hit the Stop-n-Go
They robbin boys, can't even order Domino's
Peer pressured into weed, i was 9 or so
Put the swisher sweet down til ya momma goes
A group misfits, no supervision
Walked to Celebration Station with Pooney and Vincent
The first blood i knew, wasn't no blue in his shit
And Destiny, yea she gave my first two kisses
My momma remarried and then we moved distant
Wasn't no internet then, so you lose friendships
Me and my uncle Coby, man we grew as siblings
Ridin thru Hiram Clarke, i never knew the difference
His homie Don used to have the karaoke
Freestyle in 95 while the air was smokey
Must've been about an hour and a half
Or really ten minutes, i was rhyming off my ass
Callin up his pieces, Momma Ether wasn't home
Made em bring they nieces so atleast i wasn't alone
Uncle Maurice, he used to beat me on them bones
Or that Joe Montana til the TV wasn't on
My granny rest in peace and now she gone
I called Jesus but was speaking at the tone
And 14th street i used to roam
My Aunt Fran gave us freedom like we grown
Don't know why i took the time for granted
It's safe to say this shit is not enchanted
And now I'm strugglin to find my balance
Like back at Lockwood Skating Palace
Them lock-ins would have us all mannish
Them rides to Astroworld honed my talent
We got an AMC thanks to Magic
Them was my favorite places on the planet
Ridin through the tre with Alex
So inspired by all of these blacks staying in mansions
Time passed, my congrats on graduations and marriage
Same time got me reminded i ain't yet established damn
See you ain't have the greatest of habits
Remember back in high school, you used to stay with a tablet
Ya'll be playin my classics, she just play me as average
Fortunate for me i always gravitate to a challenge
And everybody wanna ask me whats wrong with Houston?
Bitch shit, might need some tools for them Home Improvements
Next time you cross that line we just won't excuse it
Like if the city needed saving, this the song to do it
Nigga
Yeah Rankin Road
Woo!
Yea uh
Shoutout to Don Ke
Yea, It's love, yeah
Listen, aye
Near the jackboys and dopeslingers
Young George, he was puttin 4s up in Minute Maid way before Springer
Blues enough to be a soul singer
Smooth enough to make her toes tingle
Come or stay but baby don't linger
F*ck they album up with my old single
Sick of slaving for the smallest check
Swear all this debt was just causing stress
Momma tell me that I'm awfully blessed
But I've balled and wept since my father's death
Never know just who's coffins next
Paranoid with these modern threats
Gave you more and still charged you less
Plus i never had to call collect, that life ain't me
Though my patnas played and them bodies laid on the same streets
Couple classics in, you can ask a friend or nigga stay sleep
Country did us dirty and you can't bleach cuz the stains deep
Centuries of the trauma made my people pain freaks
Yea they say we from the wrong side
It's a long drive but it's strong pride
Marley singing bout Low Tides
I'm on 4-5 to the coast line
Pullin up on them Texas girls
Man they so fly, make you nose dive
This the shit you shoulda cosigned
Underground just got a gold mine
